Huntington water meter replacement project underway

The city of Huntington has started a water meter replacement project that will help prevent the loss of water and revenue, according to city administrator Bill Stewart.

‘‘The city is replacing all the water meters on our system to provide more accurate readings pertaining to the amount of water used by each customer, to notify the city when there is a water leak and to enable customer access to personal information regarding water usage, which they will be able to receive through notices on their personal devices,’’ Stewart said. ‘‘The city currently has a water loss of 25% each month due to water leaks at homes and businesses. These meters will help to prevent that loss.’’
